Our services are affordable as they are offered on a flexible, part time basis - typically one day a week or two days a month. Whilst we are fully contactable at other times for ongoing support, unless there is an advanced agreement between us, you will only be charged for the time we are on site with you.
Geoff, Chris and the Proactive FD team will bring your business years of FD experience. With backgrounds in finance and accounting they have held senior positions within FTSE 100 companies and been involved in successful management buy-outs, turnarounds and facilitating business growth.
Geoff and Chris established Proactive FD in 2013, having provided outsourced FD support independently for many years. Their significant experience ensures very strong relationships with owner managers who value the financial leadership that Proactive FD provide. Geoff Collier
Geoff has held a number of senior finance positions at FTSE 100 companies including RMC Group, GEC Marconi, General Electric and Hotpoint. Whilst at Hotpoint, Geoff established the finance function for one of the Europe's largest service providers with 1,200 remote field service engineers.
After successfully completing an initial turnaround at Applied Energy (a subsidiary of Hotpoint), Geoff helped to lead a successful Management Buy Out in conjunction with Graphite Venture Capitalists. The business was grown to £50m turnover and sold to trade buyers in 2007. Throughout the MBO all critical metrics in the business plan including turnover, profit and cash were consistently met.
Geoff brings a vast amount of experience to Proactive FD and has helped many clients in the turnaround and growth of their businesses.
All of Proactive FD's clients have significantly benefited from improved planning and management information, whilst many have also gained from the introduction of new funds.
Most importantly, through Geoff's proactive and down to earth approach, lasting and supportive relationships are formed with owner managers, who value the financial leadership Geoff continues to bring to their businesses.
Chris Miller
Chris qualified as an Accountant with the Association of Certified and Corporate Accountants (ACCA). He has worked for a number of listed companies, including Fresenius Medical Care AG, the World’s largest provider of Dialysis services, where he was FD of their UK subsidiary for over 9 years.
He entered the highly pressurised environment of Private Equity (PE), at the turn of this century, when he was made MD of the failing, 3i backed MBO, at Robinson Healthcare. It was here that he was instrumental in restoring shareholder value. After several more successful, PE backed experiences, as both FD, and MD, he joined The FD Centre, in 2009.
This was the start of his new career as a part time Finance Director, where he continues to add significant shareholder value

to his portfolio of clients. His significant experience, as an MD, ensures very strong relationships with the owners, and leaders, of the SME family owned businesses he currently works with. His PE experience has been invaluable in both driving efficiencies in all areas of client businesses, and also in supporting owners through the sale or exit process.
